We are having a splendid spring at The Beehive.
There’s been sensational Comedy theatre here from fabulous local companies Theatre Rush and Le Navet Bete a sell out gig for India Electric Co. and we are now looking forward to our brand new cinema season, then we keenly anticipate fantastic dance theatre from Panta Rei with ‘HOUSE’ and some tremendous music with our Honiton Festival concerts in May.
Add to the mix a Rock n’ Roll, Rockabilly celebration of Johnny Cash and June Carter on the 17th of May and The Honiton Community College, BIG GIG on 22nd May with a brilliant selection of cover numbers played and sung by the most outstanding musicians at the college, (for only a fiver) then there is definitely something for everyone!
To top all that off, on May 23rd, there are Flamenco & Bollywood dance workshops, and an evening of Freestyle dance with Le Roc then on Friday 29th May we have the wonderful folk/roots duo Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin- BBC radio 2 Best Folk Duo 2014.
We are extremely excited to be getting our cinema direct from the studios and we really hope that everyone enjoys the diverse range of films selected. Huge thanks must go to Honiton Community Cinema; Marianne Harman, Peter Corke, Ian Jeeves, Lindsay Hyslop, Katherine Ohlsen, Angeline Askew and June Brown for bringing film back to Honiton and establishing an audience and a lovely informal, friendly atmosphere for viewing films at The Beehive, long may it continue!
We are thrilled that some of the team are helping with the technical and programming aspects of the cinema. Once we are up and running, we hope to re-introduce the shorts prior to the main film.
After a successful first year, we’d like to say a big thank you to all of our supporters, users and visitors, for those of you who haven’t visited us yet, you are always welcome. Always looking for volunteers we welcome any offers of help, this is your community centre so don’t be shy, it’s good fun and there are a great bunch of friendly folk to guide you.
Lastly we now have a suggestion box in the foyer and we’d love to know which films you would particularly like to see or perhaps a great act you can recommend, just drop your suggestion in the box and we’ll see if we can grant your wish!
See you soon, from all at The Beehive.
