A tremendous 2018 line up

After being awarded ‘Community Centre of the Year’ award in the 2017 Devon Community Honours the Beehive launches into 2018 with renewed vigour a refreshed team of wonderful volunteers and a huge variety of events for all tastes.

Our cinema will be screening ecological documentaries Tawai and Earth-One Amazing Day, the artist, Ai Weiwei’s Human flow then there are several Oscar contenders and Golden Globe winners too. New for this year are the NTLive screenings, beginning with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on the 22nd Feb and the continued live screenings of ballet and opera from The Royal Opera House.

The monthly ‘Comedy Avengers’ continue, along with the free Folk and Acoustic café evenings. ‘Jethro’ returns and comedian Alun Cochrane. Honiton Community Theatre Co. performs their much-anticipated production of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs during the half term holidays. The annual Festival of the Imagination is on April 27th& 28th.There’s also a fab fundraising concert for the Admiral Nurse Campaign, performed by the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra on 5th May

Beehive gigs include festival favourites Echo Town and their guests – True Strays. The legendary blues band, The Producers play in March and hometown boys, Cole Stacey and Joe O’Keefe return with India Electric Co.  Show of Hands are opening their new duo tour at the Beehive in April with special guest Geoff Lakeman. The gorgeous Irish songstress Cara Dillon also comes in May, accompanied by husband Sam Lakeman. Six Hands another special concert, with John Williams, John Etheridge and Gary Ryan will be performed in June.

There’s live dance with James Wilton Dance in their extraordinary production of ‘Leviathan’ in April. Bristol Old Vic theatre school will perform this year’s production, ‘Mill on the Floss’ in June.

Everyone loves a good tribute band and we have several this year with: Kytsun Wolfe’s, The Image of Cliff & Sounds of the Shadows, Dire Streets, Through the Decades with Roy Orbison & Buddy Holly and Simon & Garfunkel by Bookends.
