Honiton Youth Drama (HYD) is starting a new project for 2016, our own adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s books Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass.
We are looking for young people aged 11 – 16 years to join the cast, or otherwise join in creating the show.
We shall be creating our own scenes, adapting an existing script, in preparation for performing a piece of about one and a quarter hours towards the end of the summer term. We shall concentrate on the better-known – and funnier – scenes such as the Mad Hatters Tea Party, the Red Queen’s Croquet game and the trial of the Knave of Hearts for stealing those tarts!
Honiton Youth Drama is a lottery-funded project, which allows it to be free for all. Sessions are run every Thursday in term time at the Beehive, Dowell Street Honiton, starting at 4pm and finishing at 6.15 (including a tea break!).
HYD is aimed at young people who do not usually go to out-of-school drama activities, and no previous acting experience is needed. HYD wants to encourage creativity and imagination, and help build confidence through drama. There will also be opportunities to learn about stagecraft, theatre lighting and sound.
You can just turn up at the Beehive, or call Martin Paine on 07519 732800 or e-mail martin@danublue.uk to find out more. All of the workers on project are well qualified and experienced, and have appropriate checks in place.
