10.30am Dr. Andrew Hardy – Medical Historian ‘Oliver Cromwell’s Skin Ointments’Oliver Cromwell famously suffered from warts (and pimples).   This talk covers both the historical stories the chemical structures associated with his skin ointments.
11.30am Roger Saunders – Meteorologist ‘From Raindrops to Superstorms’A structural look at the make-up of clouds, rain, fog and different types of superstorms.
12.30pm Jennie Sleeman ‘Shakespeare – the new, improved Greek and Roman’Looking at extracts from some of Shakespeare’s famous sonnets and tragedies, we will explore how he used the building blocks from the drama of the Greeks and the poetry of the Romans to speak powerfully to 21st Century audiences. This exploration will show that a rigid structure can provide freedom and flexibility.No knowledge of the poems or plays is required, but do bring a little imagination!
