Mad March coming up!

After Andrew O’Neill’s hilarious stand –up comedy show ‘Heavy Metal-A History!’ on this Friday 27th Feb at 7.30pm then we are suddenly launched straight into March and on Sunday 1st at 8pm legendary Steeleye Span fiddle player Peter Knight and Gigspanner begin their British tour at The Beehive with Roger Flack on guitar and Vincent Salzfaas on djembe and congas, this will be an amazing gig. ’Music to sustain the spirit’

The following weekend on Friday 6th March we have the wonderfully exuberant 8 piece band, Police Dog Hogan, whose recently released song ‘West Country Boy’ is the Pre match sing- along for Exeter City FC, check out the link on the Beehive website for a sample, its very funny as are all their songs, a stirring mix of Americana, Bluegrass and belters! Also Guardian columnist Tim Dowling plays Banjo in the band.

On Saturday 7th March we are so very lucky to be able to have the 35 piece Wren Folk orchestra- ‘Rough Music’ led by experienced caller  and award winning folk musician David Faulkner, playing a wonderful repertoire of local tunes and melodies from across the Atlantic. This is our Spring Ceilidh it’ll be great fun for all ages, so join us for a good old knees up and have no fear, all the dances will be taught as we go along.

Then we have an all day Willow workshop, making spring Plant supports on Thursday 12th March, The Beehive Tea dance on Friday 13th, A Flamenco and Bollywood Dance workshop on Sat 14th  from 1.30-4.30pm and the terrific world folk duo, The Hut People on that Saturday night.

There is currently a wonderful display of beautiful local photographs in the gallery, taken for the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty exhibition and everyone is welcome to pop in and have a look.

We will also have the Bee themed ‘Festival of Imagination’ on Sat 21st March which is for everyone in celebration of British Science week.

Our resident Sassy (singing & signing) Choir will host a special gig in the Bar with duo Misty Roses that evening too. On Friday 27th we welcome the Devon Freewheelers for their charity concert- an evening of popular songs from the charts & favourite shows and on Saturday 28th we wrap up our mad March with a really enchanting children’s puppet show Cirkus Spectakular.
