We’ve had a wonderfully busy April with a sell-out show from “Show of Hands”, comedy with “Kiss your Love Goodbye”, a fab gig with the Welsh band ”Rusty Shackle” who really got the Beehive jumping! Movies and magic as well as the annual “Festival of Imagination”, which was thronging with curious minds, old and young. It was brilliant to see three generations of some families coming along to indulge in experiments, crafty physics and listen to some fascinating talks then coming to see Oliver Meech’s magical science show in the evening.
Now we leap into a mad May with some splendid music evenings courtesy of The Honiton Festival, “ZRI” present Schubert’s String Quintet in C, reimagined to sound as radical as when it was first written. Bursting with gypsy and Hungarian themes. On Saturday 14th May “The New Foxtrot Serenaders” come to town, so don your dancing shoes and come to the Beehive to hear this great big dance band playing classics from the 1920’s,30’s & 40’s, think Gershwin, Kern, Berlin and Cole Porter- we’re in for a real treat!
For a bit of Country come Americana, urban bluegrass, great harmonies, witty lyrics and stomping heartbreakers look no further than the wondrous “Police Dog Hogan” they gave us a stonking evening’s entertainment last year, and we’re on course for another sell out on Thursday May 12th.
