Open Day at The Beehive Honiton – Saturday 6th April, 10am – 2pm.

On Saturday 6th April 2024 The Beehive, Honiton’s community entertainment centre, shall be opening the doors and inviting the public to our open day from 10am until 2pm.
The day will give members of the community and visitors from far and wide a chance to discover our diverse range of events, activities, cinema screenings, theatre productions, our café and so much more! This event will also give visitors the opportunity to meet our hard-working staff members who run The Beehive and of course, some of our brilliant volunteers!

The Beehive is located in the heart of the market town of Honiton, it’s an award-winning entertainment and community venue with a programme of live events, community activities, spaces to hire and a warm & friendly café.
With an annual footfall of 60,000, the operation is run by a community-led charity with 2 full-time and 9 part-time members of staff, plus 90 volunteers.
Our centre is used by many organisations and special interest groups such as The Art Society Honiton, U3A and Theatre Kidz.

On the day, visitors are welcome to come and listen to live music being played in the café by the talented local musician Alan West. Try free samples of delicious homemade cakes and take a look at our café’s fresh new menu. Come and discover our upcoming events and learn more about becoming a volunteer. Meet some of our regulars that attend the Beehive’s popular art & craft club. Members will be there on the day to share more information about joining our Art & Craft Café group.
The Creative Cabin provided by Thelma Hulbert Gallery will make a return to The Beehive providing kids crafting workshops throughout the day. (These art workshops are all free).

Find out about the Beehive’s gallery space and learn how we can help you organise your own art exhibition. In April we have the brilliantly talented Mark Carnall exhibiting. He is a local professional artist that creates fascinating artwork, from wildlife to figurative pieces and landscapes. Carnall will be attending our open day for you to see him in action.

In the auditorium we will have a few stands providing information about a range of our community groups that use The Beehive. These include Honiton’s Community Theatre Company, Pilates group, TASH, U3A, Honiton Community Church and Slimming World. There will even be a special theatre performance by Theatre Kidz!

The Beehive is a public safe space and is fully DDA compliant with wheelchair access to our cafe and auditorium, a lift and a fully equipt changing place facility. The Beehive has become a unifying space for the local community, providing a warm and welcoming environment for shared experiences and activities. We aim to create a vibrant and stimulating centre that engages, challenges, entertains, supports, educates and encompasses our community.

The Beehive’s marketing manager, Rachael Larsson-Carter said “We are delighted to be opening our doors, welcoming visitors to come and discover The Beehive and everything that we have to offer. We believe there is something for everyone, right here in the heart of the town.”

As a community centre, we want to bring the people of Honiton and surrounding areas together, not only to entertain and host live events but to also provide support, a safe space and to raise awareness of our services to the whole community.

Don’t miss your chance to find out what the Beehive has to offer!
