Come along to learn about health and wellbeing services available in Honiton. Visit stalls from our hospital, surgery, social services, mental health team and community teams alongside charities and community groups. 10am – 4pm Free entry.
As the day is in Alzheimer’s Awareness Week the 5k Family Fun Run/Jog/Walk in the afternoon is to raise awareness that keeping fit can reduce your risk of getting dementia later in life. Most of the route is off road through the beautiful countryside of East Devon. This event is suitable for families and people of all ages and if you do not want to run the 5K you can still join in and walk the route. Signing up for the event couldn’t be easier, just click here to register on the eventbrite site, it is only £5 per adult and £2.50 for children. Whilst this is an event to raise awarness that keeping fit can reduce your risk of getting dementia later in life you are welcome to get sponsorship or give a donation to Honiton DAA and Honiton Memory Cafe if you like.
In addition to the run Honiton Dementia Action Alliance are working with LED Leisure Management Ltd to help you follow a 10 week programme to get you off the couch and running. You can download the training programme here.
