After a tremendous April, we leap into May. We are absolutely thrilled to have the fabulous Cara Dillon coming to The Beehive accompanied by her husband and musical partner Sam Lakeman. This legendary Irish singer/songwriter occupies an enviable position at the very top of her genre. Cara has been captivating audiences and achieving exceptional acclaim for over 20 years. She has “Quite possibly the world’s most beautiful female voice” Mojo magazine. I suggest you book now for this concert on Friday 18th May as there aren’t many tickets left!
On Friday 25th May we have ‘Strawberries in January’ by Rona Munro performed by Cygnet Theatre Co, a cinematic rom-com, live on stage! This fizzy concoction takes the classic ingredients of romantic comedy – love, humour, coincidence and fantasy- and serves them up with a surprisingly touching twist… “My companion was reminded of the comedy series ‘Friends’ and the more I think about that, the more I agree. We were very impressed with the actors’ professionalism, teamwork and fast-paced delivery. The set is attractive and easily adaptable and the whole production is stylish, with a very well-chosen soundtrack.” Avril Silk Remotegoat 4* review.
Our cinema this month includes ‘I Tonya’(15)on Sat 19th May, a film about talented figure skater Tonya Harding who became the first American woman to complete a triple axel during competition and the scandal that arose from when her ex-husband conspires to injure Nancy Kerrigan, a fellow Olympic hopeful.
‘(Margot)Robbie and (Oscar Winner, Alison) Janney are flawless in a compelling and corrective account of a misunderstood figure; one of the more darkly funny biopics you’ll ever see.’ Helen O’Hara.4* review Empire.
