November View from The Beehive

Wondrous things are afoot at the Beehive, and now we have our 10 year lease we can plan for the future with security. This also means we can now apply for funding to help with the last bit of kit to enable us to provide live screenings of some stunning shows, exhibitions and opera in Honiton, so watch this space!

Things are frantically busy with classes, room bookings, rehearsals and all sorts of other things going on besides our weekly cinema and shows.

We also have some new recruits who have joined our terrific team of volunteers and we have open arms for anymore friendly folk!

There are some great movies coming up, with Meryl Streep starring as a straight talking, rock chick on Friday 6th Nov in ‘Ricki & the Flash’. Tom Coutenay & Charlotte Rampling star in the exquisitely performed ‘45 Years’ on Friday 13th Nov then there is Guy Ritchie’s stylish re- make of the 60’s spy thriller ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E’ starring Armie Hammer ,Henry Cavill and Huge Grant on Friday 20th Nov followed on Friday 27th Nov by ‘The Lobster’ starring Colin Farrell & Rachel Weisz. This 4 &5 star rated film described as brilliantly weird, comically macabre and a dystopian romance is definitely one to watch! Really looking forward to screening ‘The Lady in The Van’ by Alan Bennett starring Maggie Smith on Saturday December 19th and ‘Suffragette’ with a host of brilliant British actors including Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and a special pre- show talk on Friday 30th Jan. All of these films begin at 7.30pm, if you haven’t been to our cinema then come along, it’s friendly, comfy seats, lush ice creams and you can take your drink in with you.

Can’t wait for ‘When Holmes met Watson’ Honiton Players musical comedy whodunit on 28th & 29th November, should be a great giggle with songs from Abba to sing along with!

Meanwhile we have other great gigs lined up with the lovely folk singer & Musician Jim Causley playing on next Saturday 7th at 7.30pm, then some stunning dance theatre from Panta Rei on Sat 14th, followed by the fabulous Ronnie Jones Quartet on Sat 21st Nov at 8pm, a real treat for Jazz lovers.

Look forward to seeing you soon.
